And every time you are clearly shown to be wrong, which is never, that is something not to be mentioned. You won't, anyway.

I guess that in debating with you, one has to accept one simple axiom: you are always right.

I have to agree with you. having a discussion with Kaitlin is like talking with Archie Bunker. I looked him up on IMDb and his profile fits Kait... "A working class bigot constantly squabbles with his family... His viewpoints clash with nearly everyone he comes into contact with..." Kait forgive me but I need to vent. You make me want to scream when I read some of your stuff.... Kait is always right, won't give any ground, won't admit when she's wrong, is rude, obnoxious, angry, hostile, has no sense of humor and takes herself way to seriously, and if you disagree with her too often, you're a stupid idiot and she'll foe/mute you. her social graces are epic fail... I guess I'm reaching the end of my life cycle here on the forums and am fed up with certain boors on these forums. but there are some very good posters here that are a joy to have a conversation with and even if they debate and disagree with you, they do it with good social grace and get the social cues... good posters like Torrid Streeter, and Manon Seid, and Ceri, and even you Glaucon, (tho I still think you were too hard on my idol, JFK)... Looking at this picture reminds me of Kaitlin:

I'm sorry Kait, I'm not a vindictive human being - I'm actually a very nice person, and I'm going to feel awful later for posting this, but coming home from my Friday night out and reading some of your stuff makes me want to bang my head into a wall multiple times. why did I read your posts... why???

So, lets summarize this: 17 people on sim (one tped after taking the screen), one of them a monkey (hornyjit). All of these 'beauties' are either totally and completely AFK or hanging out in the OOC area (skyboxes, marketarea) of the sim, clearly not role-playing but likely afk as well since they don't react).

Note: Some of these avis haven't moved in about a week. ;)

This beauty hasn't moved in a week. She stood there last week, too:

But then I found someone IC!!!

And here, I barely trusted my eyes: Panthers IC! But alas, not from Valkyrie. LOL

And then there is this. I am not sure what it is. <.<

And that's the entire population of the marvelous Valkyrie Forest! Totally worth a visit!   Gonna run quickly now before my eyes burnt out of their holes at this sight.

I suppose so. Or maybe even her super duper mega awesome computer cannot handle 13 accounts at once? :D JK.

Fact is: When the VAST majority, if not the entirety of your traffic is made up with bots/people who are afk, bragging about traffic seems rather amusing.

you leave John Boehner out of this. I don't think he wants anyone to know he plays on Gor let alone Valkyrie Forest. he and John Norman (Norman switches between kajira and midget warrior) love to frolic together in our forests incognito...

And then there is this. I am not sure what it is. <.<

that's Jara, the maker of the GM Meter you wear in Gor. she lives in Valkyrie Forest. careful, not only is she a she urt, but also a very powerful sorceress and she can turn both your GM Hud and you into stone.

Kaitlin wrote:Metered combat is a necessary evil in SL Gor because a few male players who are also great roleplayers enjoy raiding and using the meter to solve conflict as a last resort. Mostly you need it for the initial traffic momentum of people kicking tires. I'd never have a new sim that was meter-less. You are asking to climb up a mountain backward.

Well, positions are reversed, in that case. Because I'd be interested in playing in a meterless Gorean sim, if it was one in which people would let the RP be the RP, where ICA was ICC, and in which the people would actually be RP-ing with those present rather than waiting around for specific people to continue scripted story-lines. I suppose that is my preferred style of RP, these days (which is not to say that para-RP is, but then again para and meterless aren't the same thing).
There are things that can be done to make using the meter less invasive and more part and parcel of a sim wide storyline or sim theme.

Well, THAT would be something that might actually be interesting to talk about. Those 'things'.

If you are interested in creating an environment to attract better roleplayers (more experienced or from other genre) you have got to offer something more than just "RAID!!!".

Sure. But I'd be interested in hearing what you have in mind. Because, clearly, everything I have mentioned is stuff you have laughed off or straw-manned as "RAID!"

I oversimplified this in just saying "events". It takes a constant priming of he pump with additional fodder for players. The current population will support about 1 sim of this type with decent traffic as long as you have good sim rules and a set of loremasters. You can bet people will be going over the rules with a fine toothed comb and even experienced roleplayers often want to be fed hooks/stories.

I don't follow.

Lastly...all traffic isn't equal. There is a much easier way if you just want avatars on a sim. Park your sim next to the north woods, raid and allow rescue raids. Don't require that FW wear veils and allow FW and slaves alike to travel all across gor to your city gates without needing an escort. Recruit a few super bows so you aren't constantly losing. You will be rolling in avatars.

Great. You came up with sarcasm. Do you honestly feel this is anything like the thing I or others here want? Or, in other words, can you spot the huge straw man you inserted in this last paragraph of yours?

Maybe, by way of exercise, you should stop 'fighting straw with straw' for a few posts. Never mind my big bad straw men arguments. You try do do without them. Just to see if you can do it.

Kaitlin wrote:Glaucon I was being serious. There was zero sarcasm in the last bit. In the current environment that is exactly how you would accomplish a high traffic sim.

The first option is harder and I don't know how you would be able to recruit the admins/loremasters for another round. That may change in a few months in the absence of no sims of this kind.

Well, fair enough. But no one here (except one, maybe) is interested in traffic for traffic's sake.

Anyway, I'd be more interested in a RP sim-setup that didn't require all that admining and loremastering.
