"Rumor consistently surface that many Gor Masters and Gorean Free Women in Gorean Settlements have secret dealings with these panthergirl camps, procuring their slaves, by trading goods for them."
I have a long story line now (nine months) to deal with Panther and Taluna tribes. Because of a special reason ( I did not plan that) in my biography I do not hunt panthers if they do not shoot at me.
They sell their prisoners to me and i got the guarantee of safe passage to their territory. I set members of these tribes free I made a deal with if I get them as prisoners from other traders. Both sides win.

[6:32] Luqara Darkwatch. I wish to inform you that we the Ki'Kara have a long stading trade agreement with the Slave Traders of the Tahari Desert... Specifically we trade our captives with Yuroki Uriza, whom we have granted safe passage through our lands... He or his slaves are to not to be harmed... they are to be treated as guests when in our lands.
But I have never heard about another Free to act like this. Do you think this kind of story line is "realistic" in Gor?

I think my first comment.. is
a) Panthers ... northern woods.. b) You tahari..southern hemisphere
Do they DHL or Fedex the slaves to you for next day delivery ?
I am teasing, its the festive spirit in me.
Seems a reasonable and plausible theme if the issue over geography wasnt such a glaring mismatch

Then I recommand to read Hunters of Gor, or alternatively Explorers of Gor.
Marlenus of Ar had similar dealings with Panther bands, so did Bosk of Port Kar and Saros of Tyros.
When you live in either of two big forestral regions, dealings with outlaws would be the norm not just an exeption. So yes, its realistic.

In KWC there live the Hiute taluna, already for years. Role play reason could be that a band of taluna migrated over the Ta-Thassa mountains into the plains.
In Omen Valley we trade with a panther-taluna too. I don't know her tribe, which is not important, she delivers us pelts in return for salt. As long as her pelts are more profitable then chaining her as paga slut, we let her come and trade.
In the books several men worked together with panthers.
- Marlenus with Hura and Mira
- Rask of Treve with Verna
- the Kurii with Verna
- there were several trade posts along the Laurius

She smiled. "I have grown fond of the smell of bosk," said she. Kamchak smiled. He held his hand to the girl. "Ride with me, Aphris of Turia," said Kamchak of the Tuchuks.

Re: Dealing with Panter Bands
Not entirely sure if someone would be given safe passage into panther territory, perhaps unless there was a certain meeting point nearby agreed. I could well imagine for practical purposes, you would not be welcomed to just walk right into their territory or camp without being accompanied. Heavens forbid a panther would not recognise who it was walking right into their territory until too late? However for Rp sake, there are plenty ways around that.
Trade would commonly take place at exchange points, where there was sort of an unwritten agreement to trade relatively safely.

Male and female outlaws do not much bother one another at the exchange points. They keep their own markets.
Hunters of Gor.
I cannot recall a case of females being enslaved at an exchange point, as they bargained with their wares, nor of males being enslaved at their exchange points, when displaying and merchandising their captures. If the exchange points became unsafe for either male or female outlaws, because of the others, the system of exchange points would be largely valueless. The permanency of the point, and is security, seems essential to the trade.

The village of Ayr and several free *coughs* have dealings with tribes ... however our trade has little to do with slaves.

As stated in the books you had several people had business dealings with panther tribes (Marleneus, Rask, travelling merchants), usually at exchange points but once level of trust other arrangements could be made though Panther girls tend to be untrusting of men.
In my characters youth working for slavers compound he made arrangements with various panther tribes...the basic 'bring me whatever slaves come to your land you do not want and I'll give you better deal than other slavers' deals. Often after many trades I would be able to wander close to their lands hunting (4 legged creatures) without getting too many arrows in me. So I see no issue with that story arc, panthers needed supplies and would trade for them and if you have earned that level of trust thru RP all the power to you, business is business.
So long and thanks for all the fish.

This is exactly what i am doing. They sell their prisoners to me if they dont need them and i give goods they need in the forest... and there are different levels of trust, depends on the tribe and the character of the En.Sempati wrote:...the basic 'bring me whatever slaves come to your land you do not want and I'll give you better deal than other slavers' deals.
